In a Heartbeat
The four minute film follows “a closeted boy who runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.”
When the heart finally gets to the crush, it breaks. You’re just going to have to watch to find out what happens next!
“Being gay is a subject that hasn’t been wildly explored in computer animation,” the animators Beth David and Esteban Bravo explained. “Nine out of ten LGBT youths have reported instances of bullying based on their orientations and identities in the past year.”
“We want to put out a message of love and self-acceptance to all the kids and young people who struggle to identify with LGBT+, just like Sherwin does.”
The creators of the gay animated short film add, “The heart wants what the heart wants, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
