| Pedro Lemebel’s sharp-tongued texts and provocative performances made him one of South America’s most important contemporary artists. In dictatorial Chile under Pinochet, Lemebel expressed things that only few dared to say. Loud and open, he embodied and propagated an uncomfortable gay identity. A queer, antifascist icon, Pedro Lemebel spearheaded Chile’s LGBTQ+ movement during the Pinochet dictatorship. He used his words and body as a barricade against homophobia, always speaking truth to power. This visually stunning, essayistic farewell celebrates the artist’s fierce life and legacy.
