Νομίζω δεν υπάρχει Ελληνας γκαίη, που να μην έχει ακούσει ή διαβάσει για την ΣΤΡΕΛΛΑ. Γι' αυτό δεν βάζω περιγραφή στην γλώσσα

In my opinion, STRELLA is one of the best films ever produced in Greece, in recent years. The leading part, Strella, is
performed by a real pre-operation transsexual, who won First Prize for
Female Role at the Greek Film Festival in Thessaloniki in 2009. There
are no real women playing in this film - all are trans. The only
exception is a little baby girl, towards the end of the film.

Yorgos is released from prison after 15 years of incarceration for a
murder of honour that he committed in his small Greek village. As he
attempts to find more about the whereabouts of his long lost son
Leonidas, one suspects that the film is intended to be a modern version
of a Greek tragedy, except it will not be. He spends his first night
out in a cheap downtown hotel in Athens. There he meets Strella, a young
transsexual prostitute. They spend the night together and soon they
fall in love. But the past is catching up with Yorgos. With Strella on
his side he will have to find a new way out.

The trans characters (leading and supports) are never becoming grotesque
throughout the film. Even Strella's impersonation of Maria Callas in
its falseness has a bizarre dignity and proves to be a successful
tightrope walking mainly because it has nothing in common and at any
time with any of Almodovar's transvestite characters. All in all,
"Strella" is a worth seeing film and one of those every so often moments
the Greek cinematography surprises us pleasantly.

The English title A WOMAN's WAY derives from a very famous Greek love
song by Kety Grey. You will hear the song (and read the translated
lyrics) during the New Year's Party in the film. (yavass)

I've seen it and my jaw is still dropping down like crazy!!!!!
WHAT A SHOCKING FILM!!!!

Goosebumps!!!!

One of the best "trans-films" I've seen ever! The story is gripping.
It keeps on surprising you from the edge of your seat.
Midway, be prepared for a mindblowing event.
Seriously!!!!!!!!! It's insanely good!

Hats off to MINA for giving a sensational and genuine performance.
She deserves all the accolades she received .

Can I just say that main highlight of the film is that poetic standing sex between Yorgos and Strella.
The execution is both erotic and mesmerizing.

Thanks Yianang for recommending this and of course Marcus for posting this.

This is truly a gem from your beloved country.

RATING : 5/5

Is Dogtooth a Gay film too? I just read it on wiki that they were released the same year but Dogtooth was submitted to the Oscars and got nominated.

No, it's not. It's an arthouse film. Some people love it, others hate it. It's quite weird.
